Norbert Dentressangle provides tailored service for Bradnam

Bradnam Joinery, specialists in high quality funeral coffins and caskets, has appointed Norbert Dentressangle to provide a flexible and cost-effective transport solution to cover Scotland.

Bradnam’s extensive range includes traditional coffins made from solid and veneered woods, environmentally friendly models made from willow and cardboard, and a collection of contemporary printed designs. All of which are manufactured in-house by a team of skilled craftsmen at its workshop in Haverhill, Suffolk. The company is also an agent for the prestigious US casket manufacturer, Batesville Caskets.

Due to an increasing number of orders from funeral directors in Scotland, Bradnam required a cost-effective transport solution to compliment its in-house eight-vehicle operation. As a result, Norbert Dentressangle has been appointed to provide a delivery service north of the border using its flexible shared-user pallet network.

This involves the transport specialist making collections as required from Bradnam’s Haverhill production site, consolidating orders within its shared network and guaranteeing next-day customer delivery from its Motherwell site.

Graham Ashcroft, General Manager at Bradnam Joinery, explained: “With orders for our products received on a very unpredictable basis we required a supply chain supplier with the network infrastructure to respond to our needs quickly and ensure our prompt delivery service is upheld.”

He adds: “Norbert Dentressangle’s shared-user pallet network is helping to reduce our supply chain costs, enabling us to pass on sympathetic savings to our customers during difficult circumstances.”

Norbert Dentressangle’s SHARP (Shipment Handling and Reporting Program) system ensures the coffin specialist is able to place orders electronically, which are received and processed in real time allowing for an efficient operation. A POD (proof of delivery) is also issued for Bradnam to track deliveries, helping to improve two-way communications throughout the service.
