Just-in-time
Cross-docking and splitting
In order to deliver the exact quantity of products expected by the company without being placing them into stock, the Norbert Dentressangle Group offers two just-in-time processes: cross-docking and splitting.
Cross-docking
The pallet is prepared by the manufacturer and is identified. In the warehouse, it is redirected to the final recipient by the Norbert Dentressangle teams.
Splitting
On reception in the warehouse, the pallets are split up by the Norbert Dentressangle teams:
Allocated parcels: the parcels are already identified according to recipient and according to manufacturer. The preparers reconstitute the pallets by recipient.
Non allocated parcels: the parcels are not identified by recipients. The pallet comprises the total quantity of parcels for a number of recipients.
- Pre-formatting: the IT system indicates the number of parcels to expect for the recipient and how to make up the pallet.
- Post-formatting: the forklift truck driver makes up a pallet for a recipient with the parcels. The forklift truck driver declares the parcels making up the pallet.
