Managing Road safety
The "Safe Driving Plan", a matter of behaviour
For the Norbert Dentressangle Group, road safety is an ongoing priority that forms part of a risk prevention policy.
Since 1991, the Group has set up the “Safe Driving Planâ€, a programme for avoiding accidents. It is also a tool for training employees and a step towards progress.
The right attitude
The reports prove it:
90 % of accidents are avoidable
70 % of accidents are directly related to driver behaviour.
The “Safe Driving Plan†is based on a simple idea: encouraging drivers, in all circumstances, to adopt an attitude of irreproachable control aimed at avoiding accidents.
A complete tool
The «Safe Driving Plan» intervenes throughout a driver's career:
selective recruitment
training in defensive driving
regular audits and updating.
Drivers are supported by their managers in this procedure: the «Safe Driving Plan» involves the whole of the management / employee line. The system is based on an integrated training organisation and a team of 25 instructors and 200 driver trainers.
550,000 km without an accident
The "Safe Driving Plan" is constantly updated to meet regulatory requirements, and proves reliable on a daily basis. The results show it: in 2006, Norbert Dentressangle drivers covered more than 550,000 kilometres without being responsible for an accident. Everything is done to maintain this level of safety and even improve this indicator.
