Reducing greenhouse gas emissions

More than a target, a priority

The Norbert Dentressangle Group has made a strong commitment to the fight against greenhouse gas emissions. And accurate indicator has been set up to enable it to measure the progress achieved.

Concrete measures to reduce the number of grams of CO2 emitted per vehicle

In road transport, greenhouse gas emissions are in proportion to diesel fuel consumption. The Norbert Dentressangle Group activates three main levers to act on this issue: the decrease in vehicle fuel consumption, the reduction in kilometres run empty and optimised vehicle loading. These three parameters are used to calculate an indicator specific to the Group: the number of grams of CO2 emitted per transported ton and per kilometre.

Partnership with ADEME (Agency for the Environment and Energy Management)

The Group has also signed a partnership agreement with the ADEME. This envisages action plans in two areas:
> Controlling and reducing fuel consumption (training and motivating drivers, detailed analysis of consumption and profit-sharing schemes, maximum vehicle speed limit),
> Tests on new technical solutions (additives, tyres, bio-fuels, technical development of vehicles...).
To fight against greenhouse gas emissions, vehicle age and maintenance are also taken into consideration. By renewing its fleet every 4 years, the Norbert Dentressangle Group has made a strong commitment. With almost 67% of its motor vehicle fleet in compliance with EURO IV and EURO V, Norbert Dentressangle operates Europe's most advanced fleet, which is more fuel-efficient and emits fewer pollutants.

Partnerships to go beyond internal action and design solutions for the future

Lastly, the Norbert Dentressangle Group is involved in current discussions on the future of road transport. It participates in the working group entitled "sustainable development" set up by the Freight Transport Users' Association.
under discussion: a licence for contracts with greenhouse gas emissions or taxes on fuel. The Group is consulted as an expert in order to make progress in these important issues, a pro-active approach that is of great interest to its customers.
