Road Safety
Internal training, external commitments
The Norbert Dentressangle Group is committed to controlling road risks on a daily basis. This commitment is based on a managed action plan: the “Safe Driving Plan”.
To achieve 550,000 kilometres travelled per driver without an accident for which our driver is responsible
The Group has given priority to managing road safety for many years. Its action plan, the “Safe Driving Plan” was launched as far back as 1990. This extensive tool covers the areas of driver recruitment, training and management. The method applied is based on the concept of defensive driving, i.e. a reference system aimed at avoiding accidents.
Managing road safety relates to the safety of road users. It also offers better guarantees to the customers of the Group, by limiting damages. A third benefit is improved working conditions for employees and particularly drivers.
In the Group, managing road safety is calculated by means of an indicator: the number of kilometres covered per driver without an accident for which our driver is responsible. The target within Passion Rouge 2010 is 550,000 kilometres.
Asserting its commitment at European level
Today, the Norbert Dentressangle Group has made a big commitment by signing in Brussels the European Road Safety Charter in the presence of Jacques Barrot, Vice-Chairman of the European Commission in charge of Transport. It is in fact the only French representative in its sector to have signed the charter by the end of 2006, together with 18 European companies.
In December 2007, Norbert Dentressangle won the European Commission’s Road Safety Excellence Award for large companies and multinationals.
The European Road Safety Charter emphasises the Group's involvement in these issues. It is also a recognition of the professionalism of its drivers and motivates all the teams to continue their efforts in demonstrating a responsible citizen-like attitude.
